Mildred Elaine Simpson

Mildred Elaine Simpson, 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at home. She was born September 21, 1924 in Red Oak, Texas to Cletus H. and Gertrude Martin Chapman.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, sister Marjorie Coffey, brother Warren Chapman, husband L.K. and two sons Tom Simpson and Jim Simpson, grandson Chris Simpson and great-grandson Bobby Luther.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Elaine Ferguson of Longwood, FL; two granddaughters Kaye Kreth (Rick) of Little Rock, AR; Ginger Hanna (James) of Fort Smith, AR; sisters Nell Hargrove and Peggy Weatherly, three great-grandsons plus one great-great-grandson.

Mildred is remembered because her life made a difference in so many other lives. She truly turned the spirit of God's love into a living action. She was a member of The Living Word Tabernacle in Booneville.
Attending Agape School of Evangelism in 1990 at the age of 65, she was their oldest student to graduate. She then became a licensed and ordained Minister. Inspired to spread the word of God, she wrote two books: "The Words of Jesus" and her autobiography "Wow! What a Gift."
Mildred traveled to Guatemala as a Missionary with Cristo Mundo (Christ to the World). Her official title there was International Secretary to the President of Cristo Mundo.

In Arkansas, Her ministry also included leading Bible study for women jailed in Pulaski County and a part of the Prison Ministry in Wrightsville Prison.
As a member of The Living Word Tabernacle, she served as Bible teacher, Office Administrator, Pastors' Secretary, Sunday School Superintendent, Nursery and Pre-School teacher and was also on the Cleaning crew for the Church.
In her community, She served as President of the Business and Professional Women's organization. During that time the Club, under her leadership, worked closely with the City of Booneville and Doctors to get their City's first Hospital. She participated in getting Ambulance Service in the area too.
One of the things she was most proud of was the fact that she and L.K. were the first husband and wife to serve their community in the same year. He was President of the Lions Club and she was President of Business and Professional Women's Club.

A private graveside funeral service will be held Friday, June 16 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Booneville with Pastor Robert Jones of The Living Word Tabernacle and her family.
