Myra Lorraine Haines

February 4, 1929 — March 20, 2018

In loving memory of Myra Lorraine Haines, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Alfred and Lorraine Tees.

To her friends and associates at church, she was known as Myra, but only until her grandchildren renamed her Mimi.

Mimi graduated from Kensington High School and not long after, her will and wit became the perfect match for a certain special someone. Mimi married her lifelong partner, Howard Haines – also known as "Pop-Pop" – on October 2, 1948.

Living in Collingswood, New Jersey, the two welcomed their first two daughters, Carol and Nancy. Not long after, the growing family moved to Edgewater Park, New Jersey where they were blessed with their third daughter, Barbara.

Howard and Myra then moved to Hazlet, New Jersey and remained there until all three daughters graduated from college.

Once their daughters graduated and relocated to Orlando, Florida, the proud parents sought out the warm weather and quickly followed suit by moving to the Sunshine State.

In the years to come, Myra became pronounced Mimi and she lovingly devoted her time as a generous grandmother, caregiver, and cook to her many grandchildren.

Whether feeding picky eaters, playing silly card games, or topping off the chocolate milk one too many times, Mimi meant many things to her grandchildren and they adored her for each and every one.

Besides herding children, Mimi enjoyed outdoor activities like gardening, bird watching, hiking, and playing with her many dogs. She was especially fond of cardinals and moose, which adorned everything from her clothes to the shelves in her home.

She saw multiple National Parks, mountain peaks, and even the Grand Canyon. Mimi truly saw the beauty in wildlife and appreciated the serenity of the natural world.

Her love of life's natural beauties inspired a whole family to see more in each day and to enjoy each moment to the fullest.

Mimi adored her family. She is survived by her loving daughters, Carol, Nancy (Ken), and Barbara (David), grandchildren Jenn (Ian), Michael (Allison), Christa (Tyson), Steven, Katelyn, and Matthew, great-grandson, Colin, and her sweetheart, her Sheltie Lady.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard E. Haines; brother, Alfred Tees, Jr.; and parents, Alfred and Lorraine Tees.
