Myrlene moved to Sanford, Florida with her family in 1937, and spent the rest of her life in Sanford. She met Benjamin Franklin Bullard in 1940 at Central Baptist Church in Sanford and they married on February 28, 1945. Soon thereafter, on November 11, a son, Rodney Gene, was born. Six and one half years later, a daughter, Ruth Marie arrived.

Her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse finally came true in August of 1970 when she graduated form LPN school. She then worked at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach for a few months, and then at Sanford Nursing and Convalescent Center for a few years. She finally found Lakeview Nursing Center and the happiness for which she had searched until her retirement. She loved her job and her patients loved her.
