Nan Caldwell Walker Wallace

Nan Walker Wallace, 89, passed away on April 8, 2021, and is now enjoying the reunion of family, friends, and her new home in heaven with her Lord Jesus. She was born on September 5, 1931 in Union City, Tennessee. Mrs. Wallace was the oldest daughter of Rev. and Mrs. James T. Walker, who preceded her in death. She grew up in many different towns of Western Tennessee and Kentucky because her father was a Methodist Minister, and they often moved from one church location to another.

Nan graduated from Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee with a B.S. degree in 1953. She majored in education and home economics, which was one reason she was such a good cook and seamstress. She was a member of "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities", and received many other honors as well.

Nan married Joseph P. Wallace on January 10, 1953; and they had a long and loving relationship for 65 years. They always attributed their long marriage to placing God in the center of their marriage and family. In 1959, with all their belongings and no jobs or place to live, Nan and Joe moved to Orlando, FL. Within three days, the Lord blessed each of them with a job and a new home. Nan became a teacher with Orange County Public Schools for 27 years, having taught three years in Tennessee. She was primarily an Elementary School Librarian and Media Specialist, which she thoroughly enjoyed. However, her greatest joy was to organize and lead the Women to Women Ministry in Church in the Son, where she encouraged other women in their faith in addition to growing spiritually herself. She was also the Wedding Coordinator for several years at Calvary Assembly Church and the at Church in the Son. She is currently a member of First Orlando Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the prayer team. In her later years, one of the most important things to her was her support for Danita's Children and Hope for Haiti Children's Center. She was so proud of the work being done there and insisted on its constant support until her death.

Nan was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Wallace; and survived by her three children, Rachel King (Mark), Joe Wallace, Jr. (Kyle), and Elizabeth Blain (Christian). She and Joe had nine grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sarah Meadows, of Indianapolis, IN.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 17 at 9:30 am at First Baptist Orlando - Marie Williams Chapel, 3000 S John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32805 with Andrew Bosco officiating.

Visitation with the family will precede the service from 9:00 am - 9:30 am at the chapel.

Private burial will take place in Highland Memory Gardens, Apopka, FL.
