In Loving Memory of
Neide A Bernard
1958-2021
Neide Bernard was a loving wife, sister, aunt, great aunt and friend to all she encountered. She had a "Nurse's Heart" which, along with her Lord and Savior's guidance, she used to help anyone in need. Most always her calling card was her beautiful smile. A true follower of Christ and devout Seventh Day Adventist, she shared His love everywhere she went. Neide rested in Jesus on August 11, 2021, due to the effects of COVID-19, in Orlando, Florida.
Neide was born Neide A. de Oliveira on March 17, 1958, along with her twin sister, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She was one of 5 children of Shirley and Jose de Oliveira. Neide graduated High School and then College in Brazil, with a degree in Physical Education. Swimming, gymnastics, and volleyball were her passions. But her love of Christ superseded all of these things.
She followed her brother to the Boston area in 1988. Neide studied at Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts, receiving an Associate Degree in Nursing. While attending college she worked at her own business cleaning homes. Upon receiving her degree, she worked at Mass Gen Hospital and several nursing homes.
Neide was not just a very hard worker and always put forth exemplary effort and skill in her nursing. She always helped others in need and shared her faith, even with a neighbor who could not care for himself medically. Her heart was bigger than life itself, with a smile to match, constantly thinking of others, and giving all she had to the benefit and care of other people.
Neide loved thrifting, arts and crafts, cooking delicious meals, and filling everywhere she went with plants and flowers. She would often beautify her nieces' homes and her own with wonderful flower arrangements.
In 1998 she met the love of her life Gerald (Jerry) Bernard Jr. and they were married January 1, 1999. They moved to Florida in 2001. They have been living here and enjoying life together for the past 20 years.
Neide is survived by her husband, Jerry, her brother Nelson and sister-in law Sonia Oliveira, brother Naelson and sister-in-law Sueli Oliveira, twin sister Nivia Gade and brother-in law John Gade, nephew Nelson Jr. and wife Chris Oliveira, nieces Erica and husband Robson Caputto, Karen and husband Jofre Furtado (who she thought of as if they were her own daughters), Stephanie de Oliveira, Fernanda Oliveira, and great nephews Ethan Caputto, Matthew Caputto, Michael Furtado, Gustavo Oliveira (whom she considered her own grandchildren), along with numerous cousins in Brazil. Her love extended also to her beloved dogs, Bailey and Oliver, who brought her joy daily.
Neide is preceded in death by her mother Shirley and father Jose, and younger brother Nivaldo, and niece Ingrid.
