Norma Oropeza, 91. Norma died January 4, 2023 at the Dallas County Hospital. Visitation with viewing will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Newcomer's Funeral Home, located at 895 Goldenrod Rd, Orlando (phone, 407-277-4227). Norma Castro Oropeza, daughter of Julio Castro and Lucy Hernandez, was born May 1, 1931 in New York City. Norma was adopted and with her new family she moved to Puerto Rico. She got her bachelor's degree from the Presbyterian School of Nursing. Norma met Ed Cordrey, a US navy sailor in Puerto Rico and in 1952 they were united in marriage and moved to the United States. She divorced and married Guillermo Oropeza, her second husband of 30 years. She worked as a registered nurse her whole life and retired from the Federal Government. Norma enjoyed Bible study, reading, quilting, and gardening. She loved to dance and was revered as a wonderful Spanish cook. Norma was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Orlando, Florida. She passed away on January 4, 2023 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa.
Norma was preceded in death by her biological parents, her adopted parents, first husband Edward John Cordrey, second husband Guillermo Oropeza, daughter Maria Victoria, and son Mark William Oropeza. She is survived by her children David, Catherine, Wayne, Scott, and Michael; grandchildren Amy Cordrey, Sarah Marie Cordrey, James Cordrey, Robert "Nathan" Landrum, Joel Kurtinitis, Christopher Kurtinitis, Dillon Ricci, Nicki Ricci, Kyle Ricci, Kahlanii Ricci, Mark William Oropeza, Natalie Oropeza, Piper Oropeza, Jasper Oropeza, and Mara Oropeza; many great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
