Oleksandr Mykhailenko

September 11, 1994 — February 26, 2021

Oleksandr (Alex) Mykhailenko was born in Zaporozhye, Ukraine on Sunday, September 11, 1994 and began his journey to heaven on Friday, February 26, 2021. Alex had a very happy and active childhood and was interested in learning as much as he could about everything he could. As a young boy, he enjoyed sports, camping, picnicking and playing with his friends.

Alex attended Zaporozhye General Education School #68 for elementary grades, and School #84 for middle and high school. Alex was an average student but he excelled in mathematics and sports. Alex also liked practical skills training, the US equivalent of shop class, because he learned how to use tools, as well as build and fix things around the house. He would later use this knowledge in future work as an adult for himself and others.

Alex loved sports, and in his teenage years, enjoyed playing soccer and trained as a Muay Thai boxer, actually competing and winning awards in competition events in Ukraine. He was a very good ping pong player and competed successfully in that sport as well. Alex loved photography and always carried a camera with him to capture beautiful moments and people in his life. He also loved music, played the guitar and sang very well, and became a DJ while still in Ukraine.

In June, 2012, Alex moved to Orlando, Florida with his mother, Inna, who married his stepfather, Richard. Once in the USA, at the age of 17, Alex learned to drive, got his driver's license, and studied English As A Second Language (ESOL) at Orlando Vocational Tech. He also traveled to North Carolina to work in Richard's brother-in law, Larry's woodwork shop for a period of time. Over the next few years, Alex had several jobs including working at a local hotel in several capacities, as a butcher at Texas De Brazil Restaurant, and as a furniture assembler for Hudson's Furniture Company. Always hard working and motivated, Alex started working for a national moving company, traveling all around the United States, and in fact, within the four years as a mover, was able to see 47 of the 50 United States. He was very proud of this accomplishment.

At age 24, Alex took steps to become an independent owner of his own landscaping and handyman service company and after distributing flyers to individuals and businesses, and advertising on social media, he slowly built his company from the ground up. He loved this work and his many clients loved him and the work he did for them. It was very hard work, especially in the heat of Florida, but he loved it.

Alex had a very kind and compassionate heart, and frequently went out of his way to help others. He loved people and they loved him. He was completely devoted to his mother, and she to him.

Alex is survived by his mother, Inna, and his stepfather, Richard. He was preceded in death by his father, Yuriy Mykhailenko and grandparents, Vladimyr Tsviakov, and Adam and Nina Mykhailenko. In Ukraine, he is survived by his grandmother, Halyna Tsviakova, his uncle, Eduard Tsviakov, and cousins, Karolina and Andrey. In Florida, Alex is survived by his step-brother and step-sister, Daniel and Jennifer, step-brother-in-law, Terence, and step-cousins, Mekiah and Jaxson. Also surviving is our family cat, Chester, who Alex loved.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, Florida 32822).
