Dr. Paolo B. Trambusti
1923 - 2006

PAOLO BRUNO TRAMBUSTI, 82, of Winter Park, formerly of Bradenton, FL,
Kalamazoo, MI, and Lodi, Italy, died on Sunday, January 22, 2006. He is
survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Giuliana; son, Bruno; daughter,
Valeria Shapiro (and Jim); two grandchildren, Christopher and Julie Barker;
brother, Carlo.

Dr. Trambusti was born on April 1st, 1923 in Florence, Italy. He attended
the Naval Academy in Brindisi and served in the Italian Navy during WWII.
After the war he earned his doctorate in plant genetics at the University of
Florence.

Soon thereafter he helped establish the first overseas subsidiary of Asgrow
Seed Company in Milan, Italy. He later immigrated to the United States with
his wife and children and proudly became a naturalized US citizen in 1973.
He served as President of Asgrow International Corporation and director of
the Upjohn Company, organizing and directing overseas ventures involving
plant-hybridization research, production and marketing in developed and
emerging nations in Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. He won the
respect of everyone he knew and was truly a citizen of the world with a
facility for languages, adventurous nature, strong intellectual curiosity
and warm and dignified demeanor. He was an avid sailor, accomplished
painter and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

Paolo left this life surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren,
for whom he will always be a source of great inspiration. A celebration of
his life will be held on Thursday, January 26 at 2 pm at the Mayflower
Retirement Community, 1620 Mayflower Court, Winter Park, FL 32792. In lieu
of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the
Mayflower Scholarship or Endowment Fund (407-672-1620).
