Patricia Lynne Byrd

February 9, 1950 — May 30, 2024

Pat Byrd passed away May 30, at the age of 74, surrounded by family. She died of complications from Covid 19 and Pneumonia. Pat was born in Richmond, VA and moved to Orlando at the age of 2. She grew up in Rio Pinar, graduated from Colonial High School and Florida State University. She was the daughter of James and Lila Byrd.
Pat loves music, crafting and mostly Florida State University sports. She is an avid football fan that knows as much as anyone about the Seminoles. Pat spent most of her career in the media business. First with the Orlando Sentinel and the majority in the radio business...the last 20 years with iHeartMedia. She was known for her coaching and caring management style and was referred to as the "Guidance Counselor". Pat loved her family, and nothing was more important to her than spending time with them. She was blessed with wonderful grandparents, Aunts and Uncles as well as 21 cousins across both sides.
Pat's favorite two places on earth are Blowing Rock, North Carolina and Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. She has requested her ashes be scattered across both. Pat is survived by her daughter, Whitney Grutz (38) and grandson Cayson Byrd (17), sister Linda Byrd Portmann, brother Jim Byrd Jr., nephews James Byrd III and Riley Portmann. She was also blessed with a sister-in-law, Heather Byrd and brother-in-law Shawn Portmann, who she dearly loved. Celebration of Life is Saturday June 8 11:00 am at Sanlando United Methodist Church in Longwood. In lieu of flowers, Pat requests gifts be given in her memory to Sanlando United Methodist Church.
