Patricia B. Mitchell, age 93, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at her home in Orlando. She was the beloved widow of the late Robert R. Mitchell.
She was born on April 6, 1930 in Sandusky, OH, the only child of her late parents, William A. and Helen C. (Noftz) Baughman.
Patricia is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer McMurray and Cindy A. McMurray and her husband, Patrick, both of Orlando; three grandchildren, Trevor McMurray, Sr., Jeremy McMurray, and Jacob McMurray; nine great-grandchildren, Andrew, Trevor Jr., Katie, Gage, Luke, Caleb, Olivia, Levi, and Rachel; six nieces, and two nephews.
She was a high school graduate of Mifflin High School in Columbus, OH. She worked as the receptionist at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Columbus, from which she retired. Patricia resided in Columbus with her husband until moving to Suffolk, Virginia with her daughter and later to Orlando, Florida to be with other family members.
She was a long time member of Linden Church of Christ, where she taught the Beginners Sunday School class with her sister-in-law, and directed Vacation Bible School for many years. She also was a youth sponsor in the youth activities at church.
Later, Patricia was an active member of the Worthington Christian Church, where she volunteered at the Worthington Christian Village. In Orlando, she faithfully attended Encounter Christian Church, Winter Park, where she participated in Life Group, and the Women's Bible study.
She enjoyed camping with her family whenever she could, with her last camping trip being April 2023 while attending her great niece's wedding in Georgia. She loved visiting the Disney Parks and Leu Gardens with her daughters, their families, and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a dear friend said to her daughters, it can be said, "Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not." She will be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 4:00 pm at Encounter Christian Church, 1140 S Lakemont Ave, Winter Park, FL with Preston Free officiating.
The family will receive friends on Saturday prior to the service from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the church.
A second Memorial Service will be held in Portsmouth, VA on July 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm at West Park Church of Christ, 926 Cherokee Rd, Portsmouth, VA 23701.
