Patrick Joseph Murphy was born on July 17, 1940 to Jeanette and Patrick Murphy in Brookline, Massachusetts. He joined the United States Navy after graduating high school and after 25 years of dedicated service, retired as Lieutenant Commander. Supporting and cheering him on during this time was his beautiful wife, Dee with whom he had 2 children, Patrice and Patrick. He was blessed to be married to Dee for 33 years before losing her to an illness. He was fortunate to find love again with Ardith which lasted 22 years before being widowed a second time. He would always say that he was the luckiest guy on earth to find love twice which lasted for 55 years. His secret to long lasting marriage he said was he learned the phrase "Yes, Dear" !
After his Navy retirement, he put his skills to work at the Langford Hotel in Winter Park and was a longtime volunteer at the Wekiva Springs Park. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Fleet Reserve. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandchildren. He was an avid gardner and phenomenal chef who always showed his love through his delicious cuisine. His keen sense of adventure took him sky diving for his 82nd birthday! Pat never met a stranger, especially when he was driving his red hot Mustang!
He is survived by: Eileen Farinello-sister, Patrice Murphy-daughter, Patrick Murphy-son, Micki Murphy-Daughter in Law, Patrick J Murphy-grandson, Taylor Probson-granddaughter, Andrew Murphy-grandson.
Pat will be dearly missed by everyone who has had the honor to know him! Graveside service on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11am at All Souls Cemetery in Sanford. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wounded Warriors Project.
