Paul Allen Corbitt

d. April 25, 2007

PAUL ALLEN CORBITT, 62 years young, of Winter Park, said goodbye to his family and went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday April 25, 2007, after a year long battle with cancer. Paul was born January 31, 1945 in Winter Haven FL, to Paul Joel and Eva Mae Corbitt and was preceded in death by his parents. He grew up in Kissimmee Florida, where he graduated at Osceola High School "Class of '63". He has returned many times over the years for reunions with his fellow classmates and friends and has enjoyed their continued friendship. Paul Allen served as a Florida Highway Patrolman in the late 60's for the Florida Turnpike Authority. He joined the United States Army, attending Florida State University, Military Technical School prior to serving his country during a tour in Korea. He was very proud of his job during the conflict as a Helicopter Pilot in the Medical Unit. Upon returning to FL, he became certified as a Roofing Contractor, created his own roofing company and continued to work in this field for the rest of his career. He was a long time member of the FL Roofing Assoc., the Moose Lodge and Crossroads Baptist Church in Fern Park, FL. He is survived by his lovely wife Patsy Corbitt, daughter Laura Lynn Kessler of St. Cloud, daughter Paula Trent of Winter Park, son Aubrey Corbitt of Winter Park. He is the wonderful and fun Grandfather of 9 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Quetta Sullivan, and Brothers Merle, Van, Larry, and Terry Corbitt. The family will receive friends Friday April 27, 2007, from 5:00-9:00 pm at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd., Orlando, FL. Comments and emails to the family may be made @ www.NewcomerFamily.com. A Celebration Service of his life will be held on April 28, 2007 at 10:30 am at Crossroads Baptist Church, 414 Ridge Rd., Fern Park, FL, officiated by Reverend Jimmy Johnson. A Military Internment Service will be held at Dr. Phillips Cemetery, on Apopka-Vineland Rd., Orlando, FL, Pastor Chris Millett officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Paul's name to the American Cancer Assoc. "Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am the wind on the fishing pond, the sunlight on the ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn's rain. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there, I did not die." Paul was a man of honor, integrity, vision, and good will. He would never have monetary riches for all that he gave back to his fellow man and church. He taught his family the value of having a servant heart and how to live life to the fullest, laughing out loud and often. Paul was an avid jokester and entertainer, often singing and playing his guitar with his family for hours. You could not be unhappy for long in his presence. All who knew him have been inspired by his love for his wife, children, grandchildren and family. He made his illness important, knowing this was his chance to give God's salvation message and had a passion for changing people's eternal life. Paul Allen will be sorely missed and loved for all eternity as he rests in God's gentle and healing hands.
