Paul A. Bernet

Paul A. Bernet, 89, of Apopka passed away July 12 after a brief illness. The son of Robert and Maude Bernet (Birdsboro, PA) and the youngest of 12, he worked in New York, Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Massachusetts before retiring to Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marian (Steely). Their three daughters and families are: Linda and Mike Hausinger, Joyce and Tim Hoatson, and Deborah and Ralph Gifford III. Their grandchildren are Aimee (Hausinger) and Joseph Powell, Nathan Hausinger, Geoffrey and Kaitlin Hoatson, Stephanie (Hoatson) and Justin Terrill, Ralph IV and Jennifer Gifford, Ted and Jeneen Gifford, and Sheila (Gifford) and Jonathan Cook. Their great-grandchildren are Avery and Isla Hoatson; Ralph V, Joshua, Sarah and Amanda Gifford; Theodore, Ruby, Rosalind and Elinor Gifford; and Thomas Cook.

Paul was a veteran, an ordained Seventh Day Adventist minister, a provider of Christian literature, and a tireless witness for Jesus. In retirement he worked as a part time chaplain at Florida Hospital Altamonte and Florida Living Nursing Home. His lifetime passion was helping those in need. In lieu of flowers, he would want each of us to 'pay it forward.'

His memorial service will be at the Longwood Newcomer Funeral Home on August 5th at 3 pm.
