Paul David Chiaro, Sr.

July 3, 1938 — January 7, 2023

Paul David Chiaro, Sr., age 84, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023, surrounded by family.

Paul was born in Washington, D.C. on July 3, 1938, to Domenick and Mary C. Chiaro. When Paul was 12, the Chiaro family (then totaling 7) relocated to Orlando, Florida. In Orlando, Paul graduated from Boone High School as a member of the first class to attend all four years.

On April 24, 1965, Paul married the former Nancy Catania. Paul and Nancy began their married life together in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C. before eventually settling in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Altamonte Springs became home, where they raised their 3 children and lived in the same house for over 40 years.

Paul served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. He continued his military service in the US Marine Corps Active Reserves from 1966 to 1987. He was always proud to be "One of a Few Good Men".

Paul earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the University of Maryland. He held various positions in the Department of Defense, both in our nation's capital and Orlando, Florida from 1965 until he retired.

Paul was a faithful Christian who loved his family, travel, music and Italian food. Paul believed in community involvement. He served on numerous boards and associations, and volunteered for many charities. He was very proud of his time as a Court Mediator for Seminole County, where he served once a week for almost 20 years. He also coached little league and even ran for public office! Paul lived a wonderful life, traveling to roughly 40 different countries with Nancy and other family members.

Besides his wife of 57 years, Nancy Chiaro, of Maitland, FL, Paul is survived by his sons, Paul David Chiaro, Jr. and his wife, Cassandra, of Houston, TX, and Michael Chiaro and his wife, Susan, of Longwood, FL; his daughter, Sharon Rosenfeld and her husband, Eric, of Oviedo, FL; his three grandchildren, Liam Rosenfeld, Catherine Rosenfeld, and Sarah Chiaro; two sisters, Rose Marie Cox and her husband, Donald, and Patricia Marsh and her husband, Fred; a brother, Joseph Chiaro and his wife, Donna; and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Chiaro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, John J. Chiaro.
