Paul "Curtis" Childs, 61, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on January 20, 2023. Curtis was born on August 5, 1961 in Orlando, Florida to Thermon and Gladys Childs. He attended schools in the Orlando area and graduated from Edgewater High School in 1979. After graduation he had a career in construction.
Curtis has a son, Curtis Childs Jr and wife Julie, a daughter Amber Childs-Indrunas and husband Tom, a daughter Ashley Forbes.
Curtis loved to be around his family. going to dinners, dog track, Jai alia, casinos, buying scratch off tickets, or just sitting around talking for hours. Sunday he would get up early to go to church. He enjoyed spending time with his Celebrate recovery family at Northland Church. He also enjoyed his support group family. Many of his conversations included his church and support group family.
Curtis will be remembered by his family and countless friends as someone who loved to cut up and make jokes, tell stories and always being there to lend a helping hand. He loved to help people. His professional career of 40 plus years included working in carpentry/ construction/ handy man work/ and remodeling that he took a great deal of pride in up until at the time of his death.
In addition to his children, Curtis is survived by: Father Thermon Childs of Orlando, Florida, Brother Donny (Tammy) Childs of Daytona Beach, Florida, Brother Daniel Childs, of Lake Panasoffkee, Florida, Sister Sherry Childs and ( James Goodman) of Orlando, Florida, Sister Bertie (Bill) Charland of Clermont, Florida, Sister Renee LaPlante of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Sister Thelma Childs of Altamonte Springs, Florida. Grandfather of Sierra, Christopher, Savannah, Nicholas, Jenny and T.J. and Lillie. Curtis's nephews include Matthew Childs, Lukus Moore, Blake Charland, Preston Charland, Zachary LaPlante. His nieces include Crystal Penn, Tabetha Childs, Hillary Pinaz, Mary Childs, Meghan LaPlante, Adriana Sutton, and Hannah Kairit.
He is predeceased by his mother Gladys Marie Childs
A friends and family reception will be held at Bahia Shriners at 3101 E. Semoran Blvd., Apopka, Florida 32702 on Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. People are encouraged to come and go at their leisure. Please dress casual and food will be provided.
