Paul William Darlington, age 71, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019, in the presence of his loving family.
Paul served 21 years in the U.S. Army as a Meteorologist, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, earning two Bronze Stars (among many others) for his service in Vietnam War. The ever-faithful public servant, he was active in his church, the Boy Scouts of America, the Gideons, the American Meteorological Society, Northwestern State University Alumni Association, and others. He loved international missions, serving with teams in Mexico, Romania, Brazil, Cuba, Costa Rica, Honduras and the Bahamas. Paul was proud of his 1959 Edsel Villager wagon and his mini pineapple plantation! He enjoyed taking an afternoon drive, watching a weekend race or rocket launch, and sunning at the beach or pool.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur William and Winifred Elsie (Miller), and Brother, James Arthur. He is survived by his Wife of 47 years, Deborah, Daughter Linda, Son Daniel, Brother Jack, and Sisters, Arlene, Sally, and Mary.
Visitation is Friday, September 27, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with funeral starting at 11:00 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (East Orlando), 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, Florida 32822.
Interment will follow at 2pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US Highway 1, Mims, FL, approximately 45 minutes away. Full military honors will be presented, all are welcome, and an outdoor pavilion will provide cover. Reception, food, and informal gathering at Indian River Preserve Golf Club, also in Mims, will begin at 3:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer you donate to the American Cancer Society or the Bahamas Methodist Habitat in honor of Paul.
