It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Paul Hernke on October 27, 2024 at the age of 88.
Born on May 23rd, 1936 in Appleton, WI, Paul lived a life defined by faith, family, and service. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years, where he exemplified dedication and discipline. He served as a radarman on the icebreaker USS Atka (AGB-3) which took him all over the world including the North Pole and the South Pole. His desire was to re-enlist after four years but he returned home after his service to help run the family business, Hernke Cheese, later to become Hernke Foods. In 1994, he joined Cru and put his business skills to use in full time ministry.
Paul was a loving father to his four children: Dominique (Philip), Greg, Hans-Petter (Lisa) and Christophe (Winnie), and a cherished grandfather to his four grandchildren: Christian, Hannah, Ronan and Samara. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 46 beautiful years of marriage. After Barbara’s passing, he found love again and is survived by his devoted wife, Marion, who brought him much joy and companionship.
A man of strong faith, Paul embraced his affinity with the Jewish people and fellowshipped with a congregation of Messianic Jews; sharing his love for God through music, worship, prayer and community. He was known for his love of fishing, golfing, travel, missions and ministry. His warmth, humor, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service celebrating Paul’s life will be held on February 2nd, 2025 at 3pm at Yeshua Bread of Life, Orlando FL.
