Paul Leonard Hood, age 90, of Orlando, FL passed away Wednesday March 2, 2016. Born July 8, 1925 in Miami, FL, he spent his childhood in Bedford and Indianapolis, IN. In 1940, his family moved to Jacksonville, FL and he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Pensacola, but was immediately transferred to the British Royal Navy for a period of 2 years. With the ending of WWII, he was stationed overseas where he was involved in the documentation of the Japanese War Crime Trials being held on the Island of Kwajalein. He flew to Guam to end his termination from the Navy, he was employed by the Veterans Administration in Atlanta, GA and then later by the State Dept. in Washington DC, where he was involved with the arranging for the placement of repatriates returning to the U.S. Returning to Orlando, he became a building contractor under the name of Hallmark Home and retired in 1975

For the past 30 years he has travelled extensively throughout the world and still was active even after a near fatal auto accident outside of Paris, a rhino charge in the forest of Nepal, a bus crash in Alaska and a dangerous fall into a ravine in Spain. Survived by his best friend and life companion, James Barber; nephew, Steven Shilling; nieces, Susan Howell and Sandy Shilling. He is preceded by his sister, Marcia Shilling.
Graveside service is Monday March 7, 2016 starting at 11am at Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando, FL. James Martin is officiating.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 12, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm at Stonewall, 741 W. Church Street, Orlando, FL.
