Pauline Dee Routh

April 30, 1935 — March 15, 2025

Pauline Dee Routh, 89 of Lake Mary, FL, passed away on March 15, 2025. She was born on April 30, 1935 in Louisville, KY to George and Margaret Mary Hays (Worland).

Pauline grew up in Louisville and was called to the mission field along with Walter A. Routh, Jr. whom she married on October 19, 1957 in Louisville. She served with Walter in Felicity Ohio, then in Vietnam and the Philippines from 1963 to retirement in 2005. Pauline loved the Lord Jesus and showed that love through exceptional obedience in spite of hardships like war, sickness, floods and many dangers. Her faith and faithfulness brought many to the Lord and built an immovable foundation for her family.

Pauline loved music. She played the piano, guitar, flute and accordion, taught countless piano lessons and served in the choir at First Baptist Church, Sanford.

About 15 years ago Pauline developed Alzheimer’s, and while declining mentally she set an amazing example of faith and hope in the Lord. In the last few years she could only live moment by moment but throughout the end of her life she was known as the resident in her facility that never complained.

Pauline is survived by her children: Deanna Houston, Donna Meeks, Darlene Campbell and Walter A. Routh, III along with their spouses, David Houston, Mark Meeks, Andrew Campbel and Marianne Routh. She is also survived by her brothers George and Judson Hays and sisters Barbara Evans and Peggy Walker along with 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and her sister Nancy Curtis.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 17 at the Newcomer funeral home at 335 SR-434, Longwood, FL 32750 at 2:00pm. She loved flowers, but also Pauline would have loved for donations to be made in her memory to be sent to Gideons International (Gideons.org). She loved to spread the Word and her father was a Gideon.
