Phyllis Diane Bussey

August 17, 1939 — February 14, 2020

Mrs. Phyllis Diane Ross Bussey, 80, of 2394 Pavilion Terrace, Deltona, FL passed away on Friday, Feb 14th 2020 on Valentine's Day in her own home under Hospice care with her family around her. She had been in declining health for a year and critically ill for 2 weeks.

She was born on August 17th, 1939 in Annapolis Maryland, a daughter of the late Clifton H Ross Sr and Marjorie Kolbe Ross. Her parents moved to Statesville N.C. when she was young and was raised there along with her brother and sisters.

She was a retired sales associate. She also did data entry and was a telephone operator for many years in Statesville, N.C. She moved to Florida in June 1996. No matter what job she held, Jesus, her husband and her children were her # 1 priority.

She was married on August 17th, 1997 to William F Bussey (Buzz), and they have been married for 22 years.
She was a member of Fort Smith Baptist Church for nearly 19 yrs. Her daughter and twin sons later followed her to this church and became a part of the church family.

A brother, Clifton Ross Jr. preceded her death in 2017. Survivors include her husband, William Bussey of Deltona Fl, four children, Wayne Gurley Jr. of Cleveland NC, Tammy Jolley of Deltona Fl, Gary Gurley of Deltona Fl, Barry Gurley of Deltona Fl. Two Sisters, Betty Crawford of Troutman NC, and Fran Daigrepont of Statesville NC, one grandson Jeremy Jolley of Ormond Beach Fl as well as 8 nephews and nieces.

She was a loving soul who made sacrifices regularly to help others. Sending greeting cards to those she knew and loved brought her a tremendous amount of joy. She also loved animals and had many dogs over the years and the most recent was her little chihuahua named Bella. Her favorite animal was the Elephant and she use to joke about going to Africa to ride her beloved Elephants. She loved jungle animals as well as farm animals in the country. She mentioned she would have loved living on a farm with all the farm animals.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 1 pm Saturday, Feb 22nd at Fort Smith Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Benson officiating. Memorials may be made to Fort Smith Baptist Church, 229 Fort Smith Blvd, Deltona Fl 32738.
