R. Jay Smith, age 61, of Orlando, FL passed away Sunday November 29, 2015.
Jay was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother. Jay was an accomplished sailor and athlete. Jay was a cherished friend by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Megan Newell Smith; children, Bretton Taylor Smith, Courtney Hannah Smith, and Christian Keller Smith; father, Robert (Suzanne) Smith; brothers, Michael (Tina) Smith, Robert (Pamela) Smith Jr., and Jonathan (Pamela) Smith; mother-in-law, Eileen B. Newell; brothers-in-law, James G. Newell Jr.( Fredrick Mintz M.D.) and Torsten Overbeck; sister-in-law, Kathryn A. Newell (Patricia Harbison M.D.); and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Treadway and father-in-law, James G. Newell; and sisters-in-law, Eileen N. Rolek and Diane N. Overbeck.

Following a service at The Longboat Chapel, Longboat Key, FL R. Jay Smith's ashes were scattered of the sailing vessel Catharine at sunset in the Gulf of Mexico February 13, 2016.
Jay is missed greatly by everyone he touched in his life especially his loving wife Megan Newell Smith.
