Born on September 26, 1935, in Puerto Viejo, Manabi in Ecuador, Ramona grew up under the care of her godmother. From an early age, she handled many household responsibilities but also enjoyed sewing and dancing to tropical music. In her twenties, Ramona met her late husband, Jose Vicente Cedeño, with whom she would go on to have six beautiful children, in addition to a daughter and a son from a previous marriage. In 1969, the family moved to the United States of America, settling in the New York City area.
Ramona worked as a seamstress for 20 years before becoming a small business owner, opening a restaurant, Playita Mia, offering her native cuisine. She and her husband Jose Vicente ran the restaurant for two decades before retiring. Over that time, her children flourished and achieved things that had a positive impact through generations, thanks to their sacrifice and bravery.
In her later years, Ramona enjoyed playing slots and often went on trips to Atlantic City with her loved ones. She also enjoyed pinpoint needling and provided many gifts through her talents. She was an amazing cook and always had guests over to share meals, and maybe a margarita or two. After the death of her husband in 2013, Ramona split her time between New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Florida to spend time with her ever-growing family. She had an infectious smile, contagious laugh, and amazing stories.
Ramona joins her husband Jose Vicente, daughter Gina, and son Fredy, in the hands of the lord. She is survived strongly by her six children, 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends who love her and hold fond memories of such an incredible woman.
