Raul del Campo, age 86, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018.
Raul was born on September 5, 1931 in Palma Soriano, Cuba, son of the late Benjamin del Campo and Aracelis Caridad (Fiol) del Campo. On September 30, 1956, he married Sonia Rosa Guttierrez. He emigrated to the United States in 1959 and settled in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He worked for the Electric Heater Company as a repair serviceman. The family settled in Orlando, Florida in 1973 and Raul went to work for the United States Air Force at McCoy Air Force Base. Later he transferred to the United States Naval Training Center as a boiler mechanic. By the time of his retirement, he was in charge of all Public Works at the Naval Training Center.
Raul enjoyed being on the water and fishing. He was a devout family man.
Raul is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sonia Rosa del Campo; his son, George del Campo and his wife Kim; his daughter, Nancy Mayhew and her husband Shannon; his sister, Caridad Garcia; five grandchildren, Benjamin William del Campo, Joshua George del Campo, Jacob Raul del Campo, Matthew Shane Mayhew, and Jason Michael Mayhew; and two great-grandchildren, Liam Arthur del Campo and Emma Rose del Campo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. James Cathedral, Orlando.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 8 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, FL 32822 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
