Raymond Arroyo Sr. "Ray" 77, died in his home surrounded by his loved ones on June 27, 2020. He was born on December 20, 1942, to Pedro Arroyo and Mercedes in New York, NY.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dolores G. Arroyo, along with his son, Raymond Arroyo Jr.; his daughters, Denise M. Arroyo-Mercado; and Wendy M. DeJesus, his five grandchildren, Taina J. Arroyo; Matthew R. Arroyo; Jasmine R. Mercado; Mark Anthony Arroyo, and Noelia L. DeJesus; and his sister, Doris Arroyo and has numerous in-laws, nephews, nieces, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Myrna Rojas, Olga "Elaine" Lorenzi, and Sandra Arroyo; and his brothers Pedro Arroyo and Gilbert Arroyo.
During his young adulthood, Raymond sang in a doo-wop group with his brother Gilbert, his friends Papo, and David. Raymond was also an avid Salsa dancer and listen to artist Marc Anthony's music.
Raymond served in the U.S. Army, with the rank of Staff Sergeant, and did basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, went to Virginia and Germany. He worked as a Lathe Operator in the jewelry industry for over 30 years, until he retired to Florida in 1992. After retiring, he volunteered at Florence Fuller Preschool in Boca Raton, FL, where his grandchildren attended, and everyone called him "Grandpa". Raymond came out of retirement and worked at Publix, Inc. for over 5 years.
A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2020, from 3 pm to 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 3806 Howell Branch Road, Winter Park, FL 32792.
He will be interred at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
