Raymond John Paszkowski, 91, died Thursday night, November 23, 2017. He was born February 13, 1926, in Maspeth, NY. Ray joined the U.S. Navy in January, 1944. He served his country honorably for 30 years as a boatswain's mate, achieving the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. He served in the Pacific Theater in WWII, including the invasion of Okinawa. He served on many ships and at many duty stations over his Navy career, which included serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired in Orlando in May, 1974 and earned an Associate degree at Valencia in Criminal Justice. He then worked as an Orange County corrections officer for 13 years. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the Casselberry Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanislaus and Kamilla Paszkowski, eleven older siblings, and his wife of 44 years, Myra, who died in 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Paszkowski, her spouse, Dawn Wicklow, and his adopted daughter, Cristi Vihlen, all of Orlando. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends for visitation at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, East Orlando Chapel, from 6-8pm on Monday, November 27. His funeral mass will be at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4001 Edgewater Drive, Orlando at 10:30am on Tuesday, November 28. There will be a graveside military service at Florida National Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at 12:30pm on Wednesday, November 29.
