Rebecca Jo Letzkus entered into heaven on August 5, 2023, after a long battle of Lou Gehrig's disease.
Rebecca was born on May 17, 1946, to Joe and Florence Ray in Orlando, Florida. Her loving, devoted husband, Marc Joseph Letzkus, survives her after 48 years of marriage. Her stepson, Steven Letzkus, and her two brothers, John Ray and Tom Ray, also survive her.
Being blind did not stop Rebecca from achieving many high honors. After graduating from high school, she continued her education at Stetson University earning a Bachelor's of Art Degree in Music and Education. She became a teacher for Orange County Public Schools and Lake County Public Schools, teaching adults braille and other skills for the blind.
Rebecca was very involved with her church family utilizing her music talents by sharing her angelic voice in choir and in solo. She had the honor of singing in Canterbury Cathedral in London, England. She participated in several mission trips, singing and accompanying the choir with her accordion. Rebecca was an accomplished pianist and organist, who shared her love for music with her church and friends. In her final years of life, Rebecca assisted her husband with a ministry for the senior citizens named by her, "Joy Club," where she led music encouraging praise and worship.
Over the years, Rebecca became involved with the Council of the Blind. She was also a member and an officer of Christian Fellowship of the Blind. She dedicated much of her time helping others and encouraging them towards success in life.
Rebecca had many loving friends, who were influenced by her beautiful Christian journey in life. She shared her love for Jesus with everyone she met. Her kindness and beautiful smile were a testimony to her faith. All will miss our dear Becky.
