Rene Armando Vasquez Sr. was born on March 25, 1954 in the city of San Pedro, in El Salvador, Central America. Although he was actually born on Feb 27, 1953, due to civil recording errors of the time, he is listed with a birthday one year later.
Rene was born to Ernestina Vasquez-Gudiel and Wilfredo Vasquez-Ferrofino, and was raised in a large and loving family. His siblings, Francisco "Paco", Wilfredo, Marina, Maria and Heriberto were the nucleus of his family.
In 1972, while pursuing a better future, he moved to New York. Just a few years later, he met the woman that would form the center of his own family. In 1977, he married Saira Vasquez. During the next decade, Rene and Saira would be blessed with three children, Regina, Rene Armando Jr and Gabriel.
During his years in NYC, he enjoyed being a member of the University Spanish SDA church. For 6 years, he led the choir and was involved in the program, "Ayer, Hoy y Mañana". Ever the entrepreneur, his livelihood and business involved construction.
In 1990, he moved to Florida with his family and settled in Sorrento FL. A member and first elder of the Deltona Spanish SDA church, he loved serving his fellow man.
Rene was an extremely hardworking man who never gave up. He lived on his own terms and was a proud Father and Grandfather. When asked about his greatest accomplishments, he would always turn to his loving family and take great pride in them.
During his time of medical challenges, he reminded us that the most important thing in this life is family. He wanted us to be together, to rejoice and laugh as we remembered him.
Rene entered eternal rest on Monday, December 21st. He was surrounded by friends and family.
Rene is survived by his wife, Saira Vasquez; Regina (daughter), Elkin, Alejandro & Natalia Castillo; Rene Armando Jr. (son), Jill, Izaiah, Rene "Tito" III, Alyssa Vasquez; Gabriel Vasquez (son) and Heather Lee.
His mother, Ernestina Vasquez and siblings, Marina Nieves, Francisco "Paco" Vasquez, Wilfredo Vasquez and Maria Vasquez also survive him. (His brother, Heriberto is already at rest.)
In total, Rene had 19 nieces and nephews, and 5 grandkids that were there to support and comfort him. He was a family man, who loved meals with his family and holidays. He was the type of man who would help those in need and a true friend to many. He will be missed, but we will see him again……….
