Don lived 93 wonderful years on this earth and was a true servant of Jesus Christ. He was born March 18, 1928 to Lyle and Katherine Dye in Champaign, IL and then grew up with his brother Lyle in and around Chicago, IL. He attended Bethel College in St Paul, MN where he met his life partner Nadine. They were married in 1953 while Don attended Bethel Seminary and then graduated in 1955. They chose Proverbs 3:5,6 as their life verse: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths" and Don's life of serving Jesus echoed this promise. He became a church pastor and was called by God to be a special leader who touched many lives along the way. Don was a faithful preacher and teacher with a heart for people. His first call was a small country church in Becker, MN in 1955. Over the next 24 years he pastored Kildare Ave Baptist Church in Chicago, IL, Salem Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, CO, and eventually back to the Chicago area at Trinity Baptist Church in Hickory Hills, IL. He influenced many people for his Lord and helped each church grow and thrive. In 1979, the Lord led him into a bigger ministry as he was called to be the Executive Director of the Florida-Caribbean Baptist Conference, moving to Orlando FL and overseeing multiple churches across Florida and several Caribbean countries. He had a real passion for helping new and struggling churches to grow and planting new churches while working with established churches as well. He had a special love for his multi national and multi cultural people and churches. He mentored and trained many Pastors and truly connected with them and their ministries. He "officially" retired in 1996, but he continued to assist the new Executive Director for another 11 years by traveling the state of Florida representing the conference and guiding and advising the pastors and churches.
In their later years Don and Nadine settled in to become members at Life Connection Church in Orlando as their home church. After Nadine passed away in 2015, Don continued to attend and be involved and became a beloved father figure for many people. He also continued his ministry by holding Bible studies at his home at Brookdale Conway Assisted Living until the final weeks of his life. Along the way he loved his family more than anything on this earth, and was a great friend to many. He passed away peacefully with his life work for his God being completed on September 29, 2021. We celebrate the life of this good and faithful servant who was an example for all of how the Christian life should be lived. He is rejoicing in heaven in the presence of his Savior and leaves a legacy in the many people he touched on earth.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 10:30am at Life Connection Church in Orlando, FL followed by a reception from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens in Apopka, FL
