He lived the first 8 years of his life in Ridge Farm, IL. In 1958 they moved to Orlando and he lived here the rest of his life.
When he was 17 he joined the Job Corp and graduated as a master carpenter. His first job was building a dam in Mossy Rock, WA. He didn’t like the weather there so he came back to Orlando. We met and were married April 1, 1968.
In January of 1968 he decided to join the army. In August of 1968 he was sent to Vietnam. He was one of the lucky ones and came home in September of 1969.
One of his first jobs here was building the castle at Disney World. He worked on many big jobs around town. He finally decided to go to work inside Disney. Little did we know that he would work there for the next 40 years. He loved working there because he got to work with woodworkers from all over the world and learn from them.
He liked to drive around town and tell our kids that he helped build different buildings. He could build anything made out of wood.
He was a master storyteller and he would tell them to anyone from the janitor to the CEO. One of his favorites was a trick with a tape measure and then he would give you the tape measure to keep.
NOW he loved his family dearly and words can’t tell you how much he will be missed.
He was first diagnosed with cancer at the age of 50. He would always say that dog followed him home from Vietnam. Over the course of 26 years, he had 4 different cancers. He handled it all with grace and dignity.
As much as we miss him we know he is with his family on the other side and we will be joining him when our time comes.
Fly high my love and I will see you in heaven.
