Mr. Richard "Rick" Brown entered into his final rest in the night, at home, Saturday, January 27, 2024. He is the son of Janice J. Hoskins and Frank Brown, Sr.
Rick was born September 22, 1958 in St. Louis, MO, but grew up and lived most of his life in Alton, IL. He attended Marquette High School as well as the YMCA next door where he often played hooky at the foosball table like it was for a grade. He played the violin throughout high school. He joined the Marines out of high school and returned home with difficulty reacclimating.
Rick had a gift and great skill for crafts and art. He had a meticulous mind. He had a passion for aerodynamics and wanted to be a pilot. He was an avid tennis player in his youth and enthusiast as an adult. He had a lightning quick wit and dry sense of humor that could make you laugh until your sides hurt.
Rick was a handyman, a welder, a painter, and could build a house from basement to roof. He loved working on home restoration projects in Florida where he lived since 2012. In 2019, he began working for a Corn Hole game manufacturer and made Corn Hole game boards and bean bags for 3 years. He began suffering from periodic seizures in 2022 and developed a Spinal Cord Compression disease over the past year, causing his limbs to go numb. He continued to keep busy by meticulously building model cars, painting, and repairing household items.
Rick is preceded in death by his mother, Janice Hoskins, his stepfather Elvin Hoskins, his biological father Frank Brown, Sr., his brother Frank Brown, Jr. of Carlinville, his best friend.
He is survived by his sisters Christy Pryor of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Malaya Branch of Alton, IL, Lauren Hull of Augusta, GA, his brother Reese Hoskins of Rushville, IL, his daughter Destiny Brown of Alton, IL, his grandsons DJ and A'King of Alton, IL, his Neice Taylor Pryor of Ithica, NY and many other nieces, nephews, and friends whom he loved.
