Richard B. Cameron

August 11, 1956 — August 13, 2021

Richard Burdette Cameron, age 65, of Orlando, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2021. Although his last few months consisted of serious medical issues, he continued to show his strength and valor to overcome each obstacle thrown his way through it all. From a young age Richard was an independent and "free spirit", riding his first motorcycle at the age of 11 in Washington State. This was the beginning to a lifetime of memories surrounding motorcycles in one way or another.

After high school, he made the choice to join The Boilermakers Union as a helper. In a quick four years he became a Journeyman and High Rigger in the trade, working his way up to Foreman, which he was very proud of.

After working on heights up to 300 feet, he had a terrible accident, falling approximately 20 feet, breaking his back and causing him to become a T-11 paraplegic. Although paralysis has a way of changing one's life it did not slow him down nor change his free spirit.

Once he recovered, he started offshore fishing with others and the excitement behind feeling the tug on the line led to a new love. He had always loved to fish, and this became his new outlet. He eventually bought his own boat which he enjoyed for many years. Along with fishing he began to look for a Harley three-wheeler, due to his paralysis, which he made his own with full hand controls, specialized lift and rack to help him onto the bike and bring his wheelchair with him anywhere he wanted to go. This allowed him to have the freedom he was looking for.

He was always the first one to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need without hesitation and was the glue that held the family together.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Burdette Cameron, Sr. and Norma Jean Cameron. He is survived by his dog Leo, and sisters, Toni C. Rambo (Bill), Sandra K. Brown (Rob), brother, Michael S. Cameron (Lorna), and like a big brother, Bob Thompson (Cheryl).

Although he did not have children, he considered his sister's children his own, Madison, Chase, Makenzi, and Chad Brown.

His other nieces and nephews and their families held a special place in his heart. Meg Karle, Beth Jackson, Keoki Cameron, Kaylani Longshore, John Friskillo, Kristina Friskillo, and Kawika Friskillo.

Visitation is Friday, August 20, 2021 from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
