Richard Peter Galentino, Sr. was born March 25, 1949 in Troy, New York, to Thomas J. and AnnMarie "Cecile.” He was the third child, and is survived by his older brother, Thomas, older sister, Jean, and younger brother, Paul.
Richard supported many people throughout his life including his family, friends, and neighbors. Growing up in Watervliet, New York—he threw countless baseballs and rebounded countless basketballs for Richard Jr. and Peter—never missing a game or practice. Whether assistant coach for a team, or riding across town on a red double bike to practice—Richard always put his family first. Later in life, he was the caretaker for Paul and Madeline Beauchesne after moving to Winter Park, Florida. A great Italian cook—often making sauce from his own tomatoes—Richard cooked to the sound of Italian music in the background. A lover of the national parks, dad and Peter hiked countless miles in the Florida parks taking numerous pictures of wildlife along the journey. An early morning bread-maker, family, friends and neighbors were the recipient of fresh baked bread and “Papa Tino” rolls, delivered by bike throughout the neighborhood in the morning.
Richard spent more than 55 years in Watervliet, NY, and met Pauline at the University of Albany, where he earned a B.S. in Mathematics. He moved to Florida in 2003 to enjoy the sunshine, his children, and future grandchildren with his wife, Pauline, and her parents, Paul and Madeline.
Richard’s interests included cooking, baking bread, hiking, wood working and spending time with family, especially grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Pauline; sons, Richard Peter Galentino, Jr., and Peter Joseph Galentino; sister, Jean Lavigne; and brothers, Paul and Thomas Galentino. He has three grandchildren, Elijah Emile, Elliana Corrine, and Leo Matteo Galentino—children of Richard Jr. and Mary Kay Galentino.
A devout Catholic, Richard’s life was one focused on faith and family.
