Dick Israel, a cherished soul who entered into God's Kingdom on December 10, 2023, left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Born to James and Verna Israel in Haleyville, AL, on June 24, 1939, Dick's life journey was intertwined with love, dedication, and unwavering faith. In 1959, destiny aligned Dick's path with Amelia Ann Howell, and from their union on July 31, 1959, emerged 64 years filled with shared joys and the blessing of five beautiful children, Richard, Kent, John, Jai and Dianne. He leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, survived by his loving wife, Amelia Israel; sons, Richard (Windy) Israel, John (BJ) Israel, and Jai (Kelly) Israel; daughter, Dianne (Travis) Caples; eleven grandchildren, Kyle, Austin, Tyler, Ashton, Shelby, Alison, Tucker, Alyssa, Trent, Sydney, and Hunter; and five great grandchildren, Rosie, Amelia, Jace, Lilli, and Adleigh.
Dick graduated from Haleyville High School in 1957 and enrolled at the University of Alabama where he graduated with an Electrical Engineering Degree. Soon thereafter, Dick and Amelia moved to Orlando, FL where he began a 38-year career at Lockheed Martin rising to an Engineering Manager position. Dick's dedication and determination was evident in his unwavering commitment to a career that provided for his family's needs. Beyond his professional pursuits, Dick exuded love and devotion as a father, coupled with his fervent support for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.
Dick held several volunteer positions through the years, Athletic Booster Club President at Colonial High School, and Boone High School. Dick coached Pop Warner football and Little League baseball teaching and influencing hundreds of young people not just in developing their athletic skills but also their moral character.
However, his most profound passion lay in his steadfast faith in God and his tireless efforts to share the love of Jesus Christ. Over the years, Daddy Dick and Mimi hosted countless bible studies in their home radiating warmth and the Word of God to young adults in several churches they attended. His spirit and kindness illuminated countless lives. Daddy Dick's presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and unwavering faith will continue to inspire and resonate within the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 20th, 2024, at The Church @ 434. 817 E. State Rd 434, Winter Springs, FL 32708.
