Robert Anthony Lavezzo, 79 of Orlando passed away on May 28th at his home with his family by his side. Born Feb. 11, 1930 in Sharon, MA, he moved to Florida in 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Margarita Lavezzo of 57 years; daughters, Margarita Lavezzo of Orlando and Beverly Horvath of California; son-in-law, Dr. Dennis Horvath; granddaughters, Blaine Cameron Horvath and Townsend Horvath.
Robert played farm league baseball for the Washington Senators. He worked all his life as a meat broker and was very active with charitable organizations. He was also very involved with the C.I.T.E. program of Orlando and with the Knights of Columbus Council 2112 where he served as Grand Knight. He was President of Holy Name Society of Good Shepherd in 1966-1967, Past President of Genoa Meat Brokers and was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.
Robert had a love for woodworking, baseball and most of all, family.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 5135 Sand Lake Rd. Orlando 32819. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00-9:00 PM on Monday, June 1st at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd. Orlando, 32822. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
