"Bobby" 86, passed away at his home on Feb 9, 2014.
He was born in Orlando on Nov 26, 1927, to one of Orlando's oldest families. As a young boy he worked in the family's business, Datson Dairies, and attended Orlando High School.
Bobby was known for his sense of humor and fun-loving spirit. He is a known legend in Florida auto racing, and ran many races on the legendary Beach course on Daytona Beach as one of the original NASCAR drivers in the early 50's. Recruited to become a national NASCAR driver he declined in order to stay close to his new family. He remained a top winner on the Florida circuit throughout the 60's.
He served in the US Navy and went on to be successful in his own businesses in Orlando including Florida's first mass-production auto detail business, serving the area's major dealerships.
In recent years he enjoyed much success buying, renovating, and selling houses. He loved deep-sea fishing, and was known to cook the best steak you've ever tasted, even by the standards of Al Seng of LaCantina's fame. He was a member of the Orlando Old Timers Club.
He is survived by his children, Betsy Mierswa, Diane Robinson, Robert "Bart" Dawson III, brother William "Billy" Dawson and 5 grand/5 great-grandchildren.
