Robert Deptula Jr., 54 of Orlando passed away on May 12, 2024, after an 11-year relentless battle with ALS. Rob was born on October 4th, 1970 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Karen Louise Rogers and Robert Roy Deptula, Sr. Rob grew up in Jacksonville, Florida where he attended and graduated from the Criminal Justice Center in 1993 (BC-193) and 1994 (BLE-594). Rob was a Correctional Officer for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and a Police Officer with the Atlantic Beach Police Department.
After leaving Law Enforcement, Rob went into the financial genre. He moved to Orlando, Florida in 2000 and started working for Central Florida Healthcare Federal Credit Union in 2001. He quickly advanced to Lending and Collections Manager. After several years in the financial field, Rob attended and graduated from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in 2011. After graduation, he became an employee of the school and also worked on the radio as an intern with Monsters In The Morning. During this period, he was diagnosed with ALS and embarked on his battle against the disease.
Rob is survived by his stepdaughter, Isabella Nieves, and his fiancée, Lisa Nieves. Additionally, he is survived by his father, Robert Deptula Sr., his mother and stepfather, Karen Rogers Nichols and Daniel Nichols, his sisters Amy Nichols and Kimberly Deptula Hubbard, and his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel Nichols and Amanda Nichols. His step-siblings Kimberly A Marsh, Steven Marsh, Thomas Marsh, and Christopher Marsh Among his surviving family members are his nephew and wife, Cyrus Nichols and Julia Nichols, his great-nephew Mykah Nichols, his nieces Rylee Nichols, Miamore Pare, and Angelina Cintron as well as many more loving family and friends.
Despite his immense struggle with his disease, Robert's life was filled with love and laughter that he shared with his family and friends. His passing has left a void that can never be filled. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on May 22, 2024, from 3 pm to 6 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3806 Howell Branch Rd. Winter Park, Fl 32792. Services will begin at 4 pm. The memorial service will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
