Robert Marshall Seibert Jr.

Robert Marshall Seibert Jr (Bob) was born on August 27, 1947 as the first child of Robert and Mildred Seibert. His dad was a WWII veteran, and his mother was an amazing athlete. He grew up in the small college town of Frostburg, Maryland. There he excelled in academics, athletics and was an altar boy for his church. He earned a scholarship to attend La Salle Catholic High School in the neighboring town of Cumberland. Bob played quarterback for the football team, point guard in basketball, shortstop, second base and pitcher for the baseball team. In his senior year, he was injured during a football game resulting in a torn retina. Even though he was legally blind in that eye, he batted over .600 the following spring baseball season.

After graduating high school, he went to Frostburg State University for 2 years then left to work for Western Electric in Arlington, Virginia where he met his wife of 50 years, Marty. After going on 3 dates over several months they were married on July 3, 1971. In 1974 Bob and Marty welcomed twin girls, Michelle and Mitzi, to the family and later moved to Martinsburg, West Virginia. Bob started taking classes at Shenandoah University while expanding his family by adding a son, Bobby, and a daughter, Shannon. In 1980, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management.

The winter of 1983 was harsh and after getting snowed in and walking a mile in 4 feet of snow with 2 bags of groceries, the decision was made to move south. In the summer of 1983, Bob accepted a transfer with AT&T to Orlando, Florida making sure that the family found a home on or near a golf course. Bob retired early from AT&T to start his own business making and selling golf clubs. Golf was his passion. One of his most memorable achievements of his golf career was making a hole in one in a tournament and winning a car.

Bob worked as a manager at Lynx before moving on to finish his career in the field of Emergency Management for the State of Florida and private sector. He helped others get their lives back together after natural disasters.
In the summer of 2007 Bob became a grandfather with the birth of his grandson Evan. Over the next 13 years he had 6 more grandchildren: Brooke, Sean, Sadie, Aiden, Logan and Avery. He passed on his athletic ability and love of sports to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them play and excel in sports as he did.

Bob battled cancer twice in the last 14 years but couldn't win the war the third time. He was a great fighter and never gave up hope, believing he could beat it again even until the very end. Bob was surrounded by his family when he was peacefully called home to heaven on the morning of July 22, 2021.

Bob is survived by his wife, Martha Irene Seibert, brother, John Seibert; two sisters, Mitzie L. Warner, Eileen Nolan; three daughters, Michelle (Matthew) Sperry, Mitzi (Chad) Smith, Shannon (Stephen) Medeiros; son, Robert Seibert; seven grandchildren, Evan Sperry, Brooke Sperry, Sean Medeiros, Sadie Medeiros, Aiden Smith, Logan Smith, and Avery Smith. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Marshall Seibert, Sr., mother, Mildred June Seibert and sister Elizabeth A. Campbell.
