Roach, Robert Van Ducen, US Army M/Sgt. E8-Retired, 83 of Orlando passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014. Born November 4, 1930 in East Liverpool, Ohio, US Army Master Sergeant E8 25 years of dedicated service as a Medic & Licensed Practical Nurse in the Vietnam War. 13 medals including: Meritorious Service, Bronze Star, Army Commendation, Good Conduct (8 times), Vietnam Service & numerous others. He worked for the VA Clinic for 19 years before retiring. He enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening & playing games. Bob was a fierce competitor and passed his natural athletic ability and passion for winning on to his children. Bob enjoyed watching his kids play sports including baseball, basketball, softball, golf & weightlifting. He loved the Florida Gators. He was a proud Republican and passed on his patriotism & strong work ethics to his family. Laughter was the best medicine and he lightened the mood with his good humor. He was a very kind, loving & generous man that never forgot a person's birthday. His Mother (Hazel), Father (William) & brother (Richard) preceded him in death while his 4 sisters, Eileen, Hazel, Verna (Don) & Shirley all live in East Liverpool, Ohio. Survived by his wife, Rose, 3 children, Robert (Marsha), Theresa (Vera) & Shawn. Grandsons: Cory (US Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class-E5) & Aaron. Numerous Nieces & Nephews. Mercy Mestre and Her kids: Sam, Jorge, Mercy (Leo) & Tanya & Grandkids: Diandra, Jose, Christian, Lauren & Ryan. May God Bless Robert Van Ducen Roach. Graveside service only at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on June 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Wounded Warriors.
