Robert Vernon Greene

Lt. Robert Vernon Greene, 66 of Orlando passed away peacefully on his silver wedding anniversary, May 11, 2010. Born in Orlando, he was a lifelong resident of Central Florida. He served 30 plus years with the Orange County Fire and Rescue Division. He retired in 2000. Robert was a longtime member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, Retired Firefighters of the Pine Castle Department and Orange County Fire/Rescue Department. Robert coached several local softball teams and was an instructor with the fire academy.
Robert is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Greene; son, Bobby Steen; daughter, Carol Craig; son, Kevin Greene; daughter, Sheila Jasmine; daughter, Angela Hart; son, Jeff Lane; mother, Violet Irene Greene; sister, Charlotte Phillips; grandson, Dylan Craig; granddaughter, Raven Isherwood; grandson, Zachary Hart; granddaughter, Zoey Hart; granddaughter, Zeta Hart; grandson, Dalton Frith; granddaughter, Casey Frith; grandson, Landon Conner all of Florida and Haley Isherwood and Brooke McGovern of Australia; great granddaughters, Heather, Sydnee and Makenzie Kennedy all of Florida and Corbin Rose Isherwood of Australia. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert S. Greene and his sister, Verlin Dye.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-9:00 PM on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church, 744 North Dean Road, Orlando with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando. In lieu of flowers, the family is kindly asking for donations to be made to Orange County Professional Firefighters Local 2057, c/o Robert V. Greene, 6828 Hanging Moss Road, Orlando, FL 32807.
