Rodric Vance "ole Roddie" Mayland died peacefully at home on 11 APR 2018 at 5:45 A.M. In Orlando, Florida at the age of 74.
Rod is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda, his children Rhonda 55, Michael 53, his brother's Rickey, Dickey, Mikey, and Joe Gebbia, and sisters Celeste , Janet Gebbia, and Loretta Gebbia. He also lives on through his 5 Grand kids Shayla, Kye, Aaron, Austin, and Connor. and 3 Great grand children Hailey, Travis, and Shayla's soon to be born Child.
Rod was born in Lynn, Arkansas on March 03 1944 to Christine Robinson and Lawrence Mayland. He graduated from West High School in 1962 and married his high school sweetheart Linda Sarver. After the young couple moved to Carpentersville, Illinois Rod began working in the skilled trades. Over a period of time they had two children, Rhonda and Michael. His children remember him as a hard working, fun Dad who encouraged them to pursue there goals. Rod was accomplished at S.C.U.B.A. Diving, enjoyed old muscle cars, fishing, Las Vegas, and, at one time, was a golden gloves boxer.
A funeral is scheduled for Tuesday 17 APR 2018, at 12:30. Services will be at Newcomer Funeral Home 335 East st. rd. 434 Longwood, Florida 32750 (407)-260-5400. All are welcome to attend and celebrate a life well lived. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Comforter at www.hospiceofthecomforter.org/ . The family would like to thank all the Hospice caregivers for all of their efforts, care and dedication.
