Roger Love was born October 8, 1940 in Kankakee, Illinois to the union of Frank Love and Mary Jane Cartwright, and of this union were born eight children: Leroy, George, Darlene, Frank, Leslie, Norman, Mary and Roger, who was the youngest.
Roger was father to eight children: Roger Jr. (Tamiko), Natchitoches, LA; April, Brunswick, GA; Audrey (Eric), Bourbonnais, IL.; Destiny (Andre), Chandler, AZ; Valencia (David), Orlando, FL; Edward, Detroit, MI; Darlene, Detroit, MI; and Tracey, Orlando, FL. His wife of 41 years, Johnetta, preceded him in death in November 2012. His grandson, Michael Key, also preceded him in death in December 2008.
He found Christ at an early age and served in church during those years as a guitarist and psalmist. He served in several capacities during his career, including as a police officer and then many years in the health care industry as a behavioral and mental health specialist until his retirement in 2005. He completed his Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Administration which was conferred by University of Detroit Mercy in Michigan before he moved to Orlando, Florida in 1996. Once in Orlando, he found his new church home where he faithfully served his pastor and the church's parishioners in various capacities, committees, and conferences for nearly 25 years until 2016. He made his transition suddenly in Orlando on November 16, 2021 after a brief illness—almost nine years to the day of the passing of his wife, Johnetta Earline.
He lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed the simpler things in life such as eating his favorite food or ice cream, fishing, playing his guitar, writing psalms, and watching a great football game or old western movie. He is loved dearly.
