Roger E. Peters

Roger E. Peters, age 81, went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2017.

Roger was born in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Ethel Peters on November 19, 1935. After attending Grade School in Chicago and Oak Park, IL, Roger attended Southern Illinois University (SIU) where he met Carolyn Jones of Zeigler, IL at the Registration Dance in 1954. It was love at first site for both of them. They were married in Sept. 1956 (Carolyn passed away April 2009). Upon graduation from SIU in 1958, Roger received a Bachelor Degree in Business Education and a 2nd Lieutenant Commission in the U.S. Air Force. He served two years active duty in Grand Forks AFR North Dakota where he retired as a Captain. He began his 40 year career in Chamber of Commerce Management in West Frankfort, IL. He also served as Executive Director in Paris, IL; Winter Park, FL; and Fort Walton Beach, FL where he retired in 2000.

Roger was a member of the Fort Walton Beach, FL and Winter Park, FL Rotary Clubs. He served as the President at the Winter Park Club in 1975. He also served as President of the Florida Chamber of Commerce Executives in 1984 and received a Life Time Membership in 2000. He is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber Institute of Organization management at Michigan State University in 1962.

Roger is survived by his son Mark (Lora) Orlando, FL, daughter Tracy Cooper (Jerry) Winter Garden, FL, Grandson's Caden and Joshua Trocki Winter Garden, FL, brother, Gordon Peters (Sandy) Suwannee, GA, sister, Marilyn Fales (John) Libertyville, IL, sister-in-law, Marsha Maserang Victorville, CA. Loving friend Elaine Larsen Casselberry, FL, grandchildren Paul Trocki III Eustis, FL and Gabrielle Trocki, MacKenzie and Jerry Cooper II North Port, FL, nieces and nephews, Joel & Jennifer Peters Orlando, FL, Brett & Sydney Peters CA, Karri Peters NC, Jani & Kurt Feiereisel IL.

Visitation is Thursday November 16, 2017 from 7pm to 8pm with funeral service starting at 8pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, FL. Graveside committal service is Friday November 17, 2017 at 10am at Palm Cemetery, Winter Park, FL.
