Roland P. Green

January 22, 1935 — January 6, 2019

Roland P. Green was born in Harlem, New York on January 22nd 1935, to the late Ocelia Green. He is preceded in death, by his wife of 32 years Carol Francis Green, who passed in 1988.

Raised in Harlem, Roland attended Sherman Junior High School. In 1957, he married Carol Francis and together raised four children.

Roland had a passion to learn. As an adult he worked to achieve his GED. He studied in his spiritual journey at the Manhattan Bible Institute in New York City. He also furthered his education at Valencia Community College. Each summer he also went to Bible Study retreats in Richmond, Virginia. He loved the Lord and sought him constantly.

In his early career he worked for electrical utility companies in New York City and surrounding areas. Later Roland worked for the New York Transit Authority as subway train mechanic where he retired from after 22 years.

Roland retired and moved to Orlando Florida and in 1988 he joined the Episcopal Church of St. John the Baptist. He sang in the Chancel Choir.

He was an avid tennis player, swimmer and enthusiast of classical guitar. His love of music lead him to travel miles to attend recitals and concerts.

Roland developed the love for photography and took pride in showcasing photos of his family members, family vacations and important events and celebrations at St. John's.

Roland gently passed away on Sunday, January 6th, 2019. He was a dedicated God fearing man, who if he had not been stricken ill, he would have been in church receiving the Lord's word.

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, church and community members.

Roland is survived by his sons Andre, Mark and Randy; and daughter Suzann. He also has two grandchildren, Alex Jay and Jessica Leilani; three Great-grandchildren, and many extended family members.

He will be sorely missed amongst his friends that he met and formed wonderful friendships with, after settling in Orlando, FL.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 11:00 am, at St. John Episcopal Church, 1000 Bethune Dr, Orlando, FL 32805.
