Romelia Lopez Ballester
January 31, 1939 — April 7, 2023
Romelia López Ballester, age 84, passed away peacefully on April 7th. 2023 in Orlando, FL.
She was welcomed in heaven by our Lord with open arms.
Romelia was originally from Cuba. She grew up in a town across from the ocean. Romelia was a talented seamstress in her younger years. She was also known to make the best natilla (sweet and creamy custard) Cuban desert.
In her early 20s she married Santos. After they got married they left Cuba when Fidel Castro took over the power and they moved to Puerto Rico. Her biggest wish was to become pregnant right away. But her desires were put on pause for 11 years as she was told she had an obstruction in one of her fallopian tubes. For 11 years she tried every procedure, test, exam available in the 70's and nothing worked. But she didn't give up, she went to church and prayed to our almighty supernatural God and her prayers were answered a few months later. She was pregnant with her only child María.
With little education she worked in retail all her life. Romelia and her husband Santos lived in Puerto Rico and raised their daughter with love and surrounded by good friends that became family.
When Romelia's daughter got married and moved to Orlando and later on pregnant she wanted to moved with them, but circumstances over the years prevented that from happening.
Her beloved and only granddaughter Gabriella was her treasure. She spent every summer in Orlando to be with her and her daughter.
Romelia was a free spirit. Always full of positivism and joy. She loved to dance and loved the beach. Always with a good temper. She loved fashion. Her nails and hair always done. Most importantly she knew and loved God.
She is survived by her husband Santos, her daughter Maria and her granddaughter Gabriella.
Visitation is Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with memorial service starting at 2:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (East Orlando).
