Romona S. Mcconnell

Romona S. "Monie" McConnell, age 82, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on June 12th, 2014. A Florida native born on April 2, 1932 in Greensboro near Quincy, Florida, she grew up in Bowling Green, Florida and moved to Orlando with her husband of 64 years, Joe McConnell in 1951.

She was a homemaker, beloved wife, wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Romona was a woman who was soft-spoken, always ready to serve others before herself, warm and caring toward everyone she met, always took time for her children and grandchildren and loved her husband and family deeply.

Romona was preceded in death by her father, Otho William "Bill" Shepard, her mother, Lena Mae (Glenn) Shepard, her sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Wilken and her brother, Thomas "Leroy" Shepard and is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Joe McConnell, her daughter, Joani Diller, her son, Bryan McConnell, her daughter-in-law, Cheryl McConnell, her grandchildren, Ashley Diller, Daniel Baldwin, and Christina McConnell her great-grandchildren, Star Diller, Serenity Pierson, Eva Baldwin, and another on the way (Baldwin), her sister, Virginia "Ginny" Alderman, her brother, William "Bill" Shepard, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service is scheduled for Friday, June 20th, 2014 at 10am at Newcomer Funeral Home at 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, 32822. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 19th, from 6 to 8pm at Newcomer.
