Ronald Jerry Callahan went to be with our Lord on December 22, 2016. He passed peacefully at Hospice of the Comforter surrounded by loved ones. Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother and he will be deeply missed.
Ron is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jackie Callahan; two daughters, Christina Gleason (Gerald) and Pam Johnson (David); his daughter-in-law, Marie Callahan; two step-sons, David Ferrell (Diana) and Gregory Ferrell, Jr; two step-daughters, Missy Ferrell (Ron Folds) and Christine Ferrell; one brother, Rick Thompson (Joan); two sisters, Priscilla Rodites (Nick) and Patty Rojas; his aunt, Loretta Kish; seven grandchildren, Jeremy and Brandon Sullivan; Avery, Chase and Makenzie Gleason; Aaron Callahan; and Joshua Johnson; one great-grandchild, Landon Sullivan; six step-grandchildren, Terrel and Tellissa Smith, Bryant Hicks, Jessica Faust, Jennifer and Dustin Ferrell; and three step-great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Aaliyah Smith, and Aarabella Hicks.
Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents, Authur and Pauline Callahan; his mother, Vivian Thompson; his step-father, Joseph Thompson; his uncle, Jerry Callahan; his son, Ronald J. Callahan, Jr; and his daughter, Pauline Callahan.
Ron spent his career in maintenance and home improvement. He retired from the University of Central Florida in 1991. Ron was an avid NASCAR and football fan and enjoyed both home improvement and ceramics. Ron was truly talented whether painting a wall or a ceramic Santa or eagle.
A private family memorial will be held for Ron, on his birthday February 28, 2017. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Hospice of the Comforter, 480 West Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714.
