Ronald Glenn Rycraft, 86 of Winter Park, passed away on November 19, 2019 with his family close-by after a short illness.
He was born into a military family on May 22, 1933 to Col. Clarence Addison and Anna (Stehle) Rycraft in Rochester, New York.
After Ronald lettered in Football at Plainfield High School, he enlisted in the Marines at the age of 18 and proudly served in the Korean War as a forward air radar controller, where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. He later earned a bachelor's degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL.
Ronald had a career in the aerospace, defense, and technical writing fields. He especially enjoyed working at Cape Canaveral during the late 1960's. He had a love of animals, and was a rescuer of many pets and wild animals. He loved to read and study subjects extensively. He enjoyed spending time on and near the water, fishing, boating and keeping aquariums.
Ronald is survived by his three children Michelle Rycraft, Ronald M. Rycraft, and Jacqueline Black, his daughter-in-law Helen Rycraft, his son-in-law Kevin Black, his four grandchildren Francis, Stephanie, Kevin and Christina.
He was predeceased by a brother Clarence A. Rycraft, Jr., his sister Anne O'Brien, his sister Donna Landers and his wife of 54 years, Patricia Rycraft.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be sent to Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando.
Information regarding a memorial mass will be forthcoming. His final resting place will be Cape Canaveral Veteran's Cemetery beside his wife, following cremation.
