Rosemarie DiSimone, 79, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away on February 15, 2024. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 11, 1944, the third of three children of Joseph and Carmela DiRaffaele. Her servant's heart became evident at a young age when she sacrificed her schooling to care for her dying mother. The loss of her earthly mother led her to have a special devotion to the Blessed Mother, which became the cornerstone of her deep Catholic faith. She was equally devoted to her husband of 52 years, Vincent DiSimone, and her daughter, Vanessa, for whom she made it her life's work to raise. Her love for her faith and her family was limitless. When she and Vincent moved their family to Central Florida in 1982, they became parishioners at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Winter Park. For more than 40 years, she served the parish in a number of different ministries, including Bible study groups, the choir, Legion of Mary, King of Kings, and the one most dear to her heart, the Rosary Makers. She personally made thousands of rosary beads over the years, which were distributed to countless individuals around the world. Under her leadership, the Rosary Makers has grown not only in size but also in its impact on the community. Rosemarie will be remembered by her family and friends as a kind, caring, friendly, generous, dedicated, loving woman who enjoyed striking up a conversation with everyone she met. She is survived by her husband, Vincent; her daughter, Vanessa Skinner; her son-in-law, Jason Skinner; her grandson, Chase Skinner, who was her pride and joy; her sisters, Lillian Wexler and Carol Hoehn; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved dog, Maggie.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that you make a donation in Rosemarie's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which was a charity she passionately supported for many years, or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation to help fund research to develop better treatments and find a cure for this dreaded disease, which robbed this earth of a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
The funeral mass will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Winter Park, Florida at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Following the mass, in the Parish Hall, Rosemarie's dear friends from the Rosary Makers and Legion of Mary ministries are generously hosting a reception in her honor. Entombment will be at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Winter Park, Florida at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024.
