Rudolph Michael (Mike) Gumkowski, born April 9, 1927, 96 years old completed his earthly journey on August 5, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was dedicated to his family and service.
A multi war veteran, Mike served his nation valiantly in World War II, the Korean, and Vietnam Wars. He retired from military service in 1972, and settled in Orlando Fl.
Mike's devotion extended to his wife Corinne, his steadfast partner in life. Their love story endured 47 years and was a beacon of unity and resilience. Surviving is his wife Corinne, and their blended family; Susan, Donna, Karen, Robert, Pamela, and Susan.
Family was his heart and soul. His legacy is carried forward by his 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who will forever remember his warmth, guidance, and affection.
Mike had an infectious zest for life. He found joy in the rhythm of dance, especially to the harmonies of big band music. His enthusiasm extended to his passion for treasure hunting at garage sales, estate sales, flea markets, and pawn shops. He had an uncanny knack for finding hidden gems and sharing stories of his unique finds.
A celebration of his life will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on August 12th at 11 am located at 3806 Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park where his family and friends will gather to honor his memory and the legacy he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to
Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
