Ruth A. Smithjordan

Ruth Agusta SmithJordan was born on November 16, 1948, in Tortola, British Virgin Islands to Clarita Frett and the late Emeal Smith. After she graduated from Charlotte Amalie High School in 1970 she migrated to New York and thereafter joined the United States Navy in 1973. Some of her tour of duty included Rota, Spain, Hawaii; Yokosuka, Japan; Sigonella, Italy; Ceiba, Puerto Rico; Maryland; and Beaufort, South Carolina. While in the military, Ruth gave birth to one beautiful daughter, Tschida Myracle Smith. In October 1993, she retired from the United States Navy and made Orlando, Florida her home.

Ruth worked for Orange County Government for 14 years as a Payroll Specialist and later as a Fiscal Coordinator. She gave sound advice and suggestions to her peers in her office always encouraging them to save for the future. Because of her financial knowledge, Ruth was a valued employee on her job. She retired from Orange County Government On March 21, 2008.

Ruth was a caring and giving individual to family,friends and even strangers. She was always making a "care" package for someone; yet, she did not want to be recognized for her good deeds. She was a true diva at heart with inner and outer beauty. On April 13,2008, Ruth's pain and suffering ended and she was able to rest in peace. We love Ruth and miss her very much.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Tschida; mother, Clarita Frett; sisters, Rosalind, Harriett, Mintha, Judy, Eleanor, and Janet; brothers, Clarence, Elvin, Oscar, Kelvin, Eljim; sisters-in-law, Marie, Maureen, Sabrina, Berenice; brothers-in-law, Ralph, Norman, Lyle and Terrance; aunts, Ina, Ivy, Olive, Lenora, and Delita; uncles, Eric, Joseph, and Warren; special friends, June, Gertrude, Sandra, Beverly, Maria, Shirley and Yvette; special niece, Lynnell; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 in Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 9:00 AM until service time.Interment with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in Florida National cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
